What is MOSAICO?
MOSAICO, mobilizing sustainable agriculture, infrastructure and capital, is a network of seven like-minded organizations based in Brazil, China, India and the US. MOSAICO seeks to reduce poverty, increase incomes, and protect the environment in rural communities in the developing countries where its partners operate.
Our Mission:
MOSAICO seeks to link poor rural farmers and enterprises to national and international markets by providing the financial, institutional, and technical support usually only afforded to larger deals and players. MOSAICO does this by mobilizing resources – human, financial, and institutional – in support of local sustainable agriculture and infrastructure projects.
Our Vision:
Prosperous communities with minimum negative impacts on the environment
How is MOSAICO Unique?
MOSAICO’s local partners are the heart of the process. Having intimate knowledge and day-to-day contact with the market, the local partners make resource decisions and support local ventures across the value chain. This bottom up approach makes identification of project opportunities one of MOSAICO’s strengths.
In addition, MOSAICO uniquely works with local financial institutions and other sources of capital from the very inception of its interventions in order to simultaneously develop bankable projects while preparing the banks for investment in these projects. If the enterprises involved in small-scale infrastructures are to reach their potential, they need to have access to finance at each stage of their development. The early establishment of relationships with mainstream financing makes continuing access to conventional financing easier.
